Your stay
Visp
The doctors and healthcare staff who will be taking care of you will introduce themselves to you in person. As we work 24 hours a day, you will inevitably be cared for by different people. From a professional point of view, this situation does not have any effect on your treatment.
All hospital staff members are bound to maintain professional and medical confidentiality. Please also be discrete in relation to other patients; they will certainly appreciate this.
In most cases we offer single or double rooms, with modern furniture, all with shower and WC. Subject to availability, and at an additional cost, you can request a single room.
For the birth of a child, it is possible to install an extra bed so that the family can be together in a room. Depending on size, costs range between 100.- and 150.- CHF per night, not including visitor meals.
We are at your disposal for the consideration of all your requests wherever possible.
Your friends and family will be able to reach you directly in your room by telephone. Please give them the following telephone number: +41 27 604 + your own internal telephone number. You will be provided with the required telephone card at reception.
Mobile telephones can cause medical equipment to malfunction. We would therefore be grateful if you would turn them off in the intensive care units.
You can rent a television at the rate of Fr. 5 per day. Please ask the healthcare staff about this. A radio is provided to each patient in the room. You can listen to it through the loudspeakers or through your (personal) headphones.
Any mail addressed to you will be brought to you in your room every day. If you wish to send mail, there is a post box at your disposal in the entrance hall. You can buy stamps from reception. The healthcare staff will help you post your mail if you are not able to leave your room.
You can read the daily papers in the Pometta restaurant and in the cafeteria.
If you wish to be seen by a hairdresser during your stay, please contact reception or the healthcare staff, who will be happy to arrange an appointment for you.
Our borrowing library has a wide range of books. The healthcare staff will be happy to provide you with information on this service.
The hospital is surrounded by superb, sunny flower gardens which are a wonder to explore. You can have a walk in the fresh air with your visitors, or relax on a bench. The entrance to the gardens is located on the 2nd floor.
The cafeteria, which also houses a newsagents, is a bright and welcoming place with a magnificent view of Visp and of the mountains behind it. The newsagents offers a wide range of newspapers, magazines, postcards and greeting cards, chocolate, biscuits, small gifts as well as, on request, common household goods.
Outside these opening hours, various drinks dispensers are at your disposal. For more information, please contact reception or the healthcare staff.
Our chefs will prepare your meals with care, in accordance with the latest standards of modern food physiology. A varied à la carte menu supplements the weekly menu which can be found in each room.
If you are not following any kind of diet, you can choose between the various menus and the à la carte options. The healthcare assistant will take your order each day and will advise you in choosing your dishes. If your health allows, you may of course have your meal in the restaurant with your visitors. Please ask the healthcare staff for more information.
Our culinary offer includes a wide range of daily pastries, sandwiches, small snacks, a varied salad buffet, three economical lunch menus and a wide selection of hot and cold drinks.
A qualified dietician is available to patients who want to or must follow a particular diet. If you wish to take advantage of this service, please inform the healthcare staff. They will arrange a consultation for you.
We offer chaplaincy services for Catholic and Evangelical Reformed Church members. Please inform us upon admission if you wish to use these services.
Catholic masses which you can receive on the radio or on the television in your room take place in the hospital chapel. If you so desire, the chaplaincy team can bring you communion in your room. Please ask the healthcare staff for more information. They will be happy to provide you with information regarding the times of religious services.
Reformed churches are located near the two hospitals in Brig and in Visp. Please ask the healthcare staff about the timetable of religious services and about directions to get there.
