Urology
The Urology Clinic Haut-Valais
The Urology Clinic offers a whole range of urology services with the exception of kidney transplants.
Key interests include uro-oncology including the surgical treatment of bladder, prostate, kidney and testicular cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Additional fields of interest cover the full range of minimally invasive urogynaecology services and mesh and band inserts in cases of cystoceles and urinary incontinence.
The Urology Clinic has access to a modern ultra-sound device with special probes for stomach examinations, high-resolution special probes for diagnosis of testicle, penis and groin disorders and endo-probes which are used to carry out specialist scans through the lower rectum and vagina. With all of these procedures, a Doppler function and power duplex process can be activated to enable a functional examination of the organs.
The Urology Clinic has an X-ray table with digital imaging technology for carrying out all specialist urological X-rays. This special X-ray table is set up so that operations which require X-ray investigation during surgery can also be carried out at the same time. Computer tomography using spiral computed tomography and MRI scans can also be carried out in close collaboration with the Radiology Clinic.
All micro-biological invitations can be undertaken at the hospital group’s micro-biology laboratory promptly and with a patient focus.
Cancer cells from urine samples and prostate aspiration are analysed at the Pathology Institute in Sion. Sperm analyses to diagnose fertility are carried out at the SZO laboratory.
The focal point of diagnostics at the SZO is a close and trusting collaboration with all of the specialist departments in the hospital group and with the specialists at the Bern University Hospital to enable interdisciplinary diagnostics at the very highest level.
