Internal Medicine

The Clinic for Internal Medicine at the SZO has around 80 beds and, with the exception of the oncological day clinic and the palliative care unit, is located almost exclusively at the Visp site. Around 3,600 inpatients and 38,000 outpatients and day-case patients are treated here every year.

The focus of internal medicine is on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the internal organs, from gastroenterology, pneumology and neurology to oncology and rheumatology. The department forms the basis for a comprehensive understanding and efficient treatment of diseases, from the complex cardiovascular system to the finest details of the gastrointestinal tract.
