Nutritional consultation – SZO

We provide advice to sick and healthy patients on all aspects of nutrition and focus on the latest evidence-based nutritional guidelines. We offer both inpatient and outpatient services.

Activities

    • Supporting medical treatments and symptoms and minimising nutrition-related risk factors through targeted nutritional measures
    • Looking after patients with special diets and organising home care services
    • Involvement in interdisciplinary studies, running training sessions and giving talks
    • Training students at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Nutrition and Dietics
    • ndividual consultation for all groups of people
    • Group courses for overweight young people/adults, cardiovascular rehabilitation, carbohydrate evaluation courses

    Our consultations primarily cover the following nutritional issues and should be covered by the health insurance fund (basic cover) with a medical prescription:

    • Metabolic disorders (such as diabetes mellitus, gestational diabetes)
    • Adiposities (body mass index over 30)
    • Cardiovascular disease
    • Digestive disorders
    • Kidney disease
    • Malnutrition and nutritional deficiencies
    • Food allergies or allergic reactions to nutritional elements

    Additional consultation issues which may not be covered by the health insurance fund:

    • Sports nutrition
    • Nutritional issues for healthy people
    • Vegetarian/ vegan diets
    • Overweight children
