Your child's stay
The paediatrics department provides comprehensive care for children and their families. Your child's care needs are determined upon admission to the department and reassessed during their stay. We are very sensitive to the issue of pain and have developed several techniques aimed at providing the least painful care possible.
During your hospitalisation, you will be monitored by various doctors (assistant doctors, senior doctors, consultant doctors) who will regularly assess your state of health. Due to the 7/7 coverage, these doctors are not always the same every day of the week.
Depending on your illness, you may meet other specialists, such as physiotherapists, dieticians, psychologists, or nurses specialising in a particular field.
The doctors will keep you regularly informed of your child's progress. You are welcome to attend the daily medical rounds (between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.). If you are unable to attend, an appointment can be arranged at another time.
In principle, the nurse caring for your child will remain the same until their next leave. They act as the link between you and the doctors.
Miscellaneous information
-
Doudous, repas et nuits
To help your child feel as comfortable as possible in a new environment, we recommend bringing their favourite items (toys, comfort objects, cuddly toys, etc.).
One parent may stay overnight with their child if they wish. A chair or camp bed can be provided free of charge if you wish to stay with your child during the night.
We encourage you to be with your child 24 hours a day, as well as during treatment. If you are unavailable, you may arrange for someone else to take your place, provided you inform the nurse of their identity.
Always let us know the time of your next visit. This will allow the nurse to organise treatment around your arrival and include you in the care process. For other visitors, visiting hours are the same as for the rest of the hospital, i.e. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
You can also have meals together. These can be ordered from the nurse at a cost of 9 Swiss francs for lunch, 20 Swiss francs for dinner and 17 Swiss francs for supper.
The hospital cafeteria is also available for your use. Microwaves are available in the cafeteria to reheat your meals. Outside cafeteria hours, vending machines (sandwiches, cold and hot drinks, etc.) are available on floor A.

Unwanted visitors
If you do not want certain people to visit your child, please inform the nurse. Also let the nurse know if you authorise certain visitors to go to the cafeteria with your child in your absence.
-
Follow-up on school progress
A teacher can intervene during your child's stay. The nurse will liaise with her. In the event of a long absence from school (more than 15 days), she can also visit your home. You can contact her on 079 505 78 61.

Entertainment
- A clown from the « Théodora » Fundation visits hospitalised children every Thursday afternoon.
- The nurses from the du « Chariot Magique » regularly come to play with your child. The date of their next visit is indicated on a notice board at the entrance to the ward.
- The « Pinceaux magiques » association offers silk painting activities to children suffering from chronic illnesses or who have to stay in hospital for a long time.
Several other entertainment options are available: TV, laptops, games and a Wi-Fi network for patients.
Despite your child’s illness, the whole team wishes you a pleasant stay in the ward!
