Occupational therapy aims to help people of any age who are temporarily or permanently limited in terms of their living and work skills by a somatic or mental disability, to recover the greatest possible autonomy in their personal, social and professional lives.
This therapy takes into account day-to-day movements and activities with the aim of developing facilitation strategies tailored to each individual’s resources. Its personal and social aspects, and the therapist’s listening skills are very important to ensure that the patient is provided with holistic care.
Occupational therapy attempts to maintain or restore functional and mental skills. Occupational therapists work in hospital, psychiatric clinics, rehabilitation centres or in private institutions.
