Central Sterilisation

The Central Sterilization arose from the political will of the canton of Valais and of the canton of Vaud to make sure of service offers answering the highest standards in these domain ( technical and normative requirements). It became a reality by the signature of an agreement of collaboration in 2013 between the Hospital of Valais and the Riviera-Chablais hospital as well as of its opening on July 3rd, 2017 to Martigny.
The Riviera-Chablais hospital participated in the elaboration and in the financing of this new structure.

Purpose

Redeem medical devices with use multiple soiled to eliminate any infectious risk which is attributable them.

• Receive and sort out the equipment soiled from the users
• Wash the soiled equipment
• Check and verify the functional state of every medical device
• Condition and pack the equipment with the aim of guaranteeing their state infertility
• Sterilize the equipment in the saturated steam or in the low-temperature sterilization by distribution of vapor of peroxide of hydrogen
• Transport the equipment between the central sterilization and our customers / partners

Aims

Setting up and management of a central sterilisation department for all of the partners of Valais Hospital, in accordance with the following criteria:

• Guarantee the availability of medical devices with use multiple for the hospital of Valais and the Hospital Riviera-Chablais.
• Training center for the apprentices Technologist in medical devices and for the staff in training of assistant technical in sterilization.
• Competence center in the field of the reprocessing of medical devices.
• Participate in the promotion of the Swiss Society of sterilization (SSSH).
