Cardiology Department at the Valais Romand Hospital Centre

Cardiology is the medical speciality that deals with heart diseases. With a team of cardiologists experienced in the various fields of this speciality, the Valais Hospital provides a 24-hour service, particularly for the care of patients suffering from a heart attack at its Sion site. The cardiology department treats all conditions that can affect the heart.
The Sion site houses the cardiology inpatient unit, the inpatient ward and the technical facilities for procedures (stent placement, arrhythmia ablation) and the implantation of pacemakers or defibrillators. Several cardiology and specialist consultations are also available there. For children, the Hôpital du Valais has a paediatric cardiology clinic. There is also an outpatient cardiac rehabilitation service in collaboration with the Clinique Romande de Réadaptation (CRR) in Sion and an inpatient cardiac rehabilitation service at the Sierre site. A 24-hour on-call service is provided, particularly for the care of patients suffering from a myocardial infarction.
At the sites in Brig, Sierre and Martigny, a cardiologist is available for cardiology consultations, echocardiograms and checks on pacemakers and defibrillators. The Brig site also has an outpatient cardiac rehabilitation unit.
The cardiology department works closely with the cardiac surgery department, which performs over 250 operations a year (coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacements).
