Haut-Valais Psychiatric Centre (PZO)

The Haut-Valais Psychiatric Centre (PZO) provides overall psychiatric care for the population of the Haut-Valais area (around 80,000 inhabitants). This care includes prevention, treatment and support for patients suffering from a mental health problem, for all age groups (children, adolescents, adults, elderly people), population groups and types of diagnosis. The PZO manages acute psychological crises, emergencies (on-call service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week), and the monitoring of chronic diseases.

The PZO is integrated into Valais Hospital and is organised into several in-house services. As well as three day clinics for adults and elderly people, it also runs an outpatient service for children, adolescents, adults and elderly people.

It provides consultation and liaison services for all the hospital’s departments and for external institutions. In addition, it coordinates, manages and supervises the rehabilitation and integration of individuals suffering from mental health disorders in cooperation with cantonal health and social affairs institutions.
